What a Full Replacement Includes
A proper shingle replacement is not just nailing new shingles over old ones. We tear off down to the deck, inspect the wood for rot or damage, install ice and water shield in valleys and along eaves, lay synthetic underlayment across the whole roof, then install architectural shingles with proper nailing patterns.
Why Architectural Shingles
Architectural (dimensional) shingles are thicker than old three-tab shingles. They resist wind uplift better — most are rated for 110 to 130 mph winds. They also look better, with shadow lines that mimic wood shake. In Charles County, where summer thunderstorms bring sudden gusts, that wind rating matters.
How Long It Takes
Most homes take 1 to 2 days. Larger or more complex roofs (steep pitches, multiple valleys, dormers) can take 3 days. We don't work in heavy rain — wet underlayment is a future leak.
What It Costs
Costs vary by roof size, pitch, and complexity. Most Charles County homes fall in the low-to-mid five figures for a full architectural shingle replacement. Your written quote after our free inspection is the real number. See our cost guide for details.
